The Higher Education Leadership (HED) concentration is designed for experienced professionals in higher education environments interested in leading and managing various aspects of colleges and universities, state higher education agencies, foundations, and related associations.
The curriculum is designed to: a) advance students' knowledge of core higher education scholars and scholarship; b) help students draw upon their own higher education experiences to identify important questions of research and practice; c) empower students to develop expertise, a scholarly voice, and field level leadership on a particular topic of interest; and d) strengthen the research methodology skills necessary to critique, develop, and advance students' unique perspectives to higher education discourse. We believe that a strong foundation in scholarly inquiry provides enhanced skills for career advancement into leadership positions related to higher education and higher education-adjacent administration, faculty, policy, and professional associations.
