Dr. Aeriel A. AshleeProgram Statement
The College Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) Master of Science (M.S.) program at St. Cloud State University (SCSU) is an intentionally inclusive graduate preparation program for student affairs professionals in higher education. Our cohort-based program infuses a deep commitment to diversity and social justice with helping skills and student development theory to facilitate student learning, growth, and development. Graduate students in CCSD apply their newly gained knowledge and skills in multiple experiential learning opportunities, including two practicum experiences, a 450-hour internship, and other experiences such as graduate assistantships and research projects.
The CCSD master’s program prepares students for careers in a variety of student affairs functional areas including multicultural student services, residential life, academic advising, career development, international student services, student activities, and other student support offices. Faculty and student affairs staff associated with the CCSD program represent a broad array of educational and experiential backgrounds essential to understanding the diverse nature of student affairs and higher education.
