Program Statement

At UNL, we are committed to educating the next generation of student affairs educators. We aspire to prepare professionals who can meet the needs of the 21st century student body.  Students who complete the program will be able to: (a) apply student development and administrative theory to their professional practice (b) identify contemporary issues in student affairs and resources to plan for and respond to them (c) utilize student affairs history and philosophies to guide their decisions (d) analyze complex student and administrative problems within various institutional contexts (e) critically evaluate and utilize research (f) practice reflexivity to understand their individual experiences and how they shape their professional practice and (g) understand a variety of social justice issues and develop actions contributing to sustainability, equity and inclusion
